68:1
نٓۚ
NOOON.
Nun
وَٱلۡقَلَمِ
WALQ̣ALAMI
By the pen
وَمَا
wa-maa
and what
يَسۡطُرُونَ
yasṭuroon,―
they write
١
68:2
مَآ
Maaa
Not
أَنتَ
ʹañta
you (are)
بِنِعۡمَةِ
biniʻmati
by (the) Grace
رَبِّكَ
Rabbika
(of) your Lord
بِمَجۡنُونٖ
bimajnoon.
a madman
٢
68:3
وَإِنَّ
Wa-ʹinna
And indeed
لَكَ
laka
for you
لَأَجۡرًا
laʹAjran
surely (is) a reward
غَيۡرَ
g̣ayra
without
مَمۡنُونٖ
mamnoon:
end
٣
68:4
وَإِنَّكَ
Wa-ʹinnaka
And indeed you
لَعَلَىٰ
laʻalaa
surely (are)
خُلُقٍ
khuluq̣in
(of) a moral character
عَظِيمٖ
ʻaz̤̣eem.
great
٤
68:5
فَسَتُبۡصِرُ
Fasatubṣiru
So you will see
وَيُبۡصِرُونَ
wa-yubṣiroon,
and they will see
٥
68:6
بِأَييِّكُمُ
Biʹayyikumul
Which of you
ٱلۡمَفۡتُونُ
maftoon.
(is) the afflicted one
٦
68:7
إِنَّ
ʹInna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ
Rabbaka
your Lord
هُوَ
Huwa
He
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَن
bimañ
of (he) who
ضَلَّ
ḍalla
has strayed
عَن
ʻañ
from
سَبِيلِهِۦ
Sabeelih:
His way
وَهُوَ
wa-Huwa
and He
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹAʻlamu
(is) most knowing
بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِينَ
bil-Muhtadeen.
of the guided ones
٧
68:8
فَلَا
Falaa
So (do) not
تُطِعِ
tuṭiʻil
obey
ٱلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
mukaẓẓibeen.
the deniers
٨
68:9
وَدُّواْ
Waddoo
They wish
لَوۡ
law
that
تُدۡهِنُ
tudhinu
you should compromise
فَيُدۡهِنُونَ
fayudhinoon.
so they would compromise
٩
68:10
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (do) not
تُطِعۡ
tuṭiʻ
obey
كُلَّ
kulla
every
حَلَّافٖ
ḥallaafim
habitual swearer
مَّهِينٍ
maheen,
worthless
١٠
68:11
هَمَّازٖ
Hammaazim
Defamer
مَّشَّآءِۭ
mashshaaaʹim
going about
بِنَمِيمٖ
binameem,
with malicious gossip

68:12
مَّنَّاعٖ
Mannaaʻil
A preventer
لِّلۡخَيۡرِ
lilkhayri
of (the) good
مُعۡتَدٍ
muʻtadin
transgressor
أَثِيمٍ
ʹas̤eem,
sinful
١٢
68:13
عُتُلِّۭ
ʻUtullim
Cruel
بَعۡدَ
baʻda
after
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
(all) that
زَنِيمٍ
zaneem,―
utterly useless
١٣
68:14
أَن
ʹAñ
Because
كَانَ
kaana
(he) is
ذَا
ẓaa
a possessor
مَالٖ
maaliñwwa
(of) wealth
وَبَنِينَ
baneen.
and children
١٤
68:15
إِذَا
ʹIẓaa
When
تُتۡلَىٰ
tutlaa
are recited
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
to him
ءَايَٰتُنَا
ʹAayaatunaa
Our Verses
قَالَ
q̣aala
he says
أَسَٰطِيرُ
ʹAsaaṭeerul
Stories
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
ʹAwwaleen!
(of) the former (people)

سَنَسِمُهُۥ
Sanasimuhoo
We will brand him
عَلَى
ʻalal
on
ٱلۡخُرۡطُومِ
khurṭoom!
the snout
١٦
68:17
إِنَّا
ʹInnaa
Indeed We
بَلَوۡنَٰهُمۡ
balawnaahum
have tried them
كَمَا
kamaa
as
بَلَوۡنَآ
balawnaaa
We tried
أَصۡحَٰبَ
ʹAṣḥaabal
(the) companions
ٱلۡجَنَّةِ
Jannah,
(of) the garden
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
أَقۡسَمُواْ
ʹaq̣samoo
they swore
لَيَصۡرِمُنَّهَا
layaṣrimunnahaa
to pluck its fruit
مُصۡبِحِينَ
muṣbiḥeen,
(in the) morning
١٧
68:18
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And not
يَسۡتَثۡنُونَ
yastas̤noon.
making exception
١٨
68:19
فَطَافَ
Faṭaafa
So there came
عَلَيۡهَا
ʻalayhaa
upon it
طَآئِفٞ
ṭaaaʹifum
a visitation
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّكَ
Rabbika
your Lord
وَهُمۡ
wa-hum
while they
نَآئِمُونَ
naaaʹimoon.
were asleep
١٩
68:20
فَأَصۡبَحَتۡ
Faʹaṣbaḥat
So it became
كَٱلصَّرِيمِ
kaṣṣareem.
as if reaped
٢٠
68:21
فَتَنَادَوۡاْ
Fatanaadaw
And they called one another
مُصۡبِحِينَ
muṣbiḥeen,
(at) morning
٢١
68:22
أَنِ
ʹAnig̣
That
ٱغۡدُواْ
doo
Go early
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
to
حَرۡثِكُمۡ
ḥars̤ikum
your crop
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you would
صَٰرِمِينَ
ṣaarimeen.
pluck (the) fruit
٢٢
68:23
فَٱنطَلَقُواْ
Fañṭalaq̣oo
So they went
وَهُمۡ
wa-hum
while they
يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ
yatakhaafatoon―
lowered (their) voices
٢٣
68:24
أَن
ʹAl
That
لَّا
laa
Not
يَدۡخُلَنَّهَا
yadkhulannahal
will enter it
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
yawma
today
عَلَيۡكُم
ʻalaykum
upon you
مِّسۡكِينٞ
miskeen.
any poor person
٢٤
68:25
وَغَدَوۡاْ
Wa-g̣adaw
And they went early
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
with
حَرۡدٖ
ḥardiñ
determination
قَٰدِرِينَ
q̣aadireen.
able
٢٥
68:26
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
But when
رَأَوۡهَا
raʹawhaa
they saw it
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣aalooo
they said
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
Indeed we
لَضَآلُّونَ
laḍaaalloon:
(are) surely lost
٢٦
68:27
بَلۡ
Bal
Nay
نَحۡنُ
naḥnu
We
مَحۡرُومُونَ
maḥroomoon!
(are) deprived
٢٧
68:28
قَالَ
Q̣aala
Said
أَوۡسَطُهُمۡ
ʹawsaṭuhum
(the) most moderate of them
أَلَمۡ
ʹalam
Did not
أَقُل
ʹaq̣ul
I tell
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
you
لَوۡلَا
law-laa
Why not
تُسَبِّحُونَ
tusabbiḥoon?
you glorify (Allah)?
٢٨
68:29
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
سُبۡحَٰنَ
Subḥaana
Glory be
رَبِّنَآ
Rabbinaaa
(to) our Lord
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
Indeed we
كُنَّا
kunnaa
[we] were
ظَٰلِمِينَ
z̤̣aalimeen!
wrongdoers
٢٩
68:30
فَأَقۡبَلَ
Faʹaq̣bala
Then approached
بَعۡضُهُمۡ
baʻḍuhum
some of them
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
to
بَعۡضٖ
baʻḍiñy
others
يَتَلَٰوَمُونَ
yatalaawamoon.
blaming each other
٣٠
68:31
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
يَٰوَيۡلَنَآ
yaa-waylanaaa
O woe to us
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
Indeed we
كُنَّا
kunnaa
[we] were
طَٰغِينَ
ṭaag̣een!
transgressors
٣١
68:32
عَسَىٰ
ʻAsaa
Perhaps
رَبُّنَآ
Rabbunaaa
our Lord
أَن
ʹañy
[that]
يُبۡدِلَنَا
yubdilanaa
will substitute for us
خَيۡرٗا
khayram
a better
مِّنۡهَآ
minhaaa
than it
إِنَّآ
ʹinnaaa
Indeed we
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
to
رَبِّنَا
Rabbinaa
our Lord
رَٰغِبُونَ
raag̣iboon!
turn devoutly
٣٢
68:33
كَذَٰلِكَ
Kaẓaalikal
Such
ٱلۡعَذَابُۖ
ʻAẓaab;
(is) the punishment
وَلَعَذَابُ
wa-laʻAẓaabul
And surely the punishment
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
ʹAakhirati
(of) the Hereafter
أَكۡبَرُۚ
ʹakbar.
(is) greater
لَوۡ
Law
if
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon!
know
٣٣
68:34
إِنَّ
ʹInna
Indeed
لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ
lil-Muttaq̣eena
for the righteous
عِندَ
ʻiñda
with
رَبِّهِمۡ
Rabbihim
their Lord
جَنَّٰتِ
Jannatin
(are) Gardens
ٱلنَّعِيمِ
Naʻeem.
(of) Delight
٣٤
68:35
أَفَنَجۡعَلُ
ʹAfanajʻalul
Then will We treat
ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ
Muslimeena
the Muslims
كَٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
kalmujrimeen?
like the criminals
٣٥
68:36
مَا
Maa-
What
لَكُمۡ
lakum?
(is) for you
كَيۡفَ
kayfa
How
تَحۡكُمُونَ
taḥkumoon?
(do) you judge
٣٦
68:37
أَمۡ
ʹAm
Or
لَكُمۡ
lakum
(is) for you
كِتَٰبٞ
Kitaabuñ
a book
فِيهِ
feehi
wherein
تَدۡرُسُونَ
tadrusoon―
you learn
٣٧
68:38
إِنَّ
ʹInna
Indeed
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
فِيهِ
feehi
in it
لَمَا
lamaa
what
تَخَيَّرُونَ
takhayyaroon?
you choose
٣٨
68:39
أَمۡ
ʹAm
Or
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
أَيۡمَٰنٌ
ʹAymaanun
oaths
عَلَيۡنَا
ʻalaynaa
from us
بَٰلِغَةٌ
baalig̣atun
reaching
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
to
يَوۡمِ
Yawmil
(the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
Q̣iyaamati
(of) the Resurrection
إِنَّ
ʹinna
indeed
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
لَمَا
lamaa
(is) what
تَحۡكُمُونَ
taḥkumoon?
you judge
٣٩
68:40
سَلۡهُمۡ
Salhum
Ask them
أَيُّهُم
ʹayyuhum̃
which of them
بِذَٰلِكَ
biẓaalika
for that
زَعِيمٌ
zaʻeem!
(is) responsible
٤٠
68:41
أَمۡ
ʹAm
Or
لَهُمۡ
lahum
(are) for them
شُرَكَآءُ
shurakaaaʹu
partners
فَلۡيَأۡتُواْ
fal-yaʹtoo
Then let them bring
بِشُرَكَآئِهِمۡ
bishurakaaaʹihim
their partners
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they are
صَٰدِقِينَ
ṣaadiq̣een!
truthful
٤١
68:42
يَوۡمَ
Yawma
(The) Day
يُكۡشَفُ
yukshafu
will be uncovered
عَن
ʻañ
from
سَاقٖ
saaq̣iñw
the shin
وَيُدۡعَوۡنَ
wayudʻawna
and they will be called
إِلَى
ʹilas
to
ٱلسُّجُودِ
sujoodi
prostrate
فَلَا
falaa
but not
يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ
yastaṭeeʻoon,―
they will be able

خَٰشِعَةً
Khaashiʻatan
Humbled
أَبۡصَٰرُهُمۡ
ʹabṣaaruhum
their eyes
تَرۡهَقُهُمۡ
tarhaq̣uhum
will cover them
ذِلَّةٞۖ
ẓillah:
humiliation
وَقَدۡ
wa-q̣ad
And indeed
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they were
يُدۡعَوۡنَ
yudʻawna
called
إِلَى
ʹilas
to
ٱلسُّجُودِ
sujoodi
prostrate
وَهُمۡ
wa-hum
while they
سَٰلِمُونَ
saalimoon.
(were) sound
٤٣
68:44
فَذَرۡنِي
Faẓarnee
So leave Me
وَمَن
wa-mañy
and whoever
يُكَذِّبُ
yukaẓẓibu
denies
بِهَٰذَا
bihaaẓal
this
ٱلۡحَدِيثِۖ
Ḥadees̤:
Statement
سَنَسۡتَدۡرِجُهُم
sanastadrijuhum
We will progressively lead them
مِّنۡ
min
from
حَيۡثُ
ḥays̤u
where
لَا
laa-
not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
they know
٤٤
68:45
وَأُمۡلِي
Wa-ʹumlee
And I will give respite
لَهُمۡۚ
lahum:
to them
إِنَّ
ʹinna
Indeed
كَيۡدِي
kaydee
My plan
مَتِينٌ
mateen.
(is) firm
٤٥
68:46
أَمۡ
ʹAm
Or
تَسۡـَٔلُهُمۡ
tasʹaluhum
you ask them
أَجۡرٗا
ʹajrañ
a payment
فَهُم
fahum
so they
مِّن
mim
from
مَّغۡرَمٖ
mag̣ramim
(the) debt
مُّثۡقَلُونَ
mus̤q̣aloon?
(are) burdened
٤٦
68:47
أَمۡ
ʹAm
Or
عِندَهُمُ
ʻiñdahumul
(is) with them
ٱلۡغَيۡبُ
G̣aybu
the unseen
فَهُمۡ
fahum
so they
يَكۡتُبُونَ
yaktuboon?
write it
٤٧
68:48
فَٱصۡبِرۡ
Faṣbir
So be patient
لِحُكۡمِ
li-Ḥukmi
for (the) decision
رَبِّكَ
Rabbika
(of) your Lord
وَلَا
wa-laa
and (do) not
تَكُن
takuñ
be
كَصَاحِبِ
ka-Ṣaaḥibil
like (the) companion
ٱلۡحُوتِ
Ḥoot.
(of) the fish
إِذۡ
ʹIẓ
when
نَادَىٰ
naadaa
he called out
وَهُوَ
wa-huwa
while he
مَكۡظُومٞ
makz̤̣oom.
(was) distressed
٤٨
68:49
لَّوۡلَآ
Law-laaa
If not
أَن
ʹañ
that
تَدَٰرَكَهُۥ
tadaarakahoo
overtook him
نِعۡمَةٞ
Niʻmatum
a Favor
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّهِۦ
Rabbihee
his Lord
لَنُبِذَ
lanubiẓa
surely he would have been thrown
بِٱلۡعَرَآءِ
bilʻaraaaʹi
onto (the) naked shore
وَهُوَ
wa-huwa
while he
مَذۡمُومٞ
maẓmoom.
(was) blamed
٤٩
68:50
فَٱجۡتَبَٰهُ
Fajtabaahu
But chose him
رَبُّهُۥ
Rabbuhoo
his Lord
فَجَعَلَهُۥ
fajaʻalahoo
and made him
مِنَ
minaṣ
of
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
Ṣaaliḥeen.
the righteous
