الٓمٓ
ʹAlif-laaam-meeem.
Alif Laam Meem
١
2:2
ذَٰلِكَ
Ẓaalikal
That
ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ
Kitaabu
(is) the book
لَا
laa -
no
رَيۡبَۛ
rayba
doubt
فِيهِۛ
feeh.
in it
هُدٗى
Hudal
a Guidance
لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ
lil-Muttaq̣een;
for the God-conscious
٢
2:3
ٱلَّذِينَ
ʹAllaẓeena
Those who
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yuʹminoona
believe
بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ
bil-G̣aybi
in the unseen
وَيُقِيمُونَ
wa-yuq̣eemoonaṣ
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
Ṣalaata
the prayer
وَمِمَّا
wa-mimmaa
and out of what
رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ
razaq̣naahum
We have provided them
يُنفِقُونَ
yuñfiq̣oon;
they spend
٣
2:4
وَٱلَّذِينَ
Wallaẓeena
And those who
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yuʹminoona
believe
بِمَآ
bimaaa
in what
أُنزِلَ
ʹuñzila
(is) sent down
إِلَيۡكَ
ʹilayka
to you
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُنزِلَ
ʹuñzila
was sent down
مِن
miñ
from
قَبۡلِكَ
q̣ablik,
before you
وَبِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
wa-bilʹAakhirati
and in the Hereafter
هُمۡ
hum
they
يُوقِنُونَ
yooq̣inoon.
firmly believe
٤
2:5
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹUlaaaʹika
Those
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
(are) on
هُدٗى
Hudam
Guidance
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّهِمۡۖ
Rabbihim,
their Lord
وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
wa-ʹulaaaʹika
and those
هُمُ
humul
they
ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ
Mufliḥoon.
(are) the successful ones

إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
كَفَرُواْ
Kafaroo
disbelieve[d]
سَوَآءٌ
sawaaaʹun
(it) is same
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
to them
ءَأَنذَرۡتَهُمۡ
ʹaʹañẓartahum
whether you warn them
أَمۡ
ʹam
or
لَمۡ
lam
not
تُنذِرۡهُمۡ
tuñẓirhum
you warn them
لَا
laa
not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yuʹminoon.
they believe
٦
2:7
خَتَمَ
Khatamal
Has set a seal
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
on
قُلُوبِهِمۡ
q̣uloobihim
their hearts
وَعَلَىٰ
wa-ʻalaa
and on
سَمۡعِهِمۡۖ
samʻihim,
their hearing
وَعَلَىٰٓ
wa-ʻalaaa
and on
أَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡ
ʹabṣaarihim
their vision
غِشَٰوَةٞۖ
g̣ishaawah;
(is) a veil
وَلَهُمۡ
wa-lahum
And for them
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٞ
ʻaz̤̣eem.
great
٧
2:8
وَمِنَ
Wa-minan
And of
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
the people
مَن
mañy
(are some) who
يَقُولُ
yaq̣oolu
say
ءَامَنَّا
ʹaamannaa
We believed
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
in Allah
وَبِٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wa-bil-Yawmil
and in the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِ
ʹAakhiri
[the] Last
وَمَا
wa-maa
but not
هُم
hum̃
they
بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ
bimuʹmineen.
(are) believers (at all)
٨
2:9
يُخَٰدِعُونَ
Yukhaadiʻoonal
They seek to deceive
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wallaẓeena
and those who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo:
believe[d]
وَمَا
wa-maa
and not
يَخۡدَعُونَ
Yakhdaʻoona
they deceive
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
except
أَنفُسَهُمۡ
ʹañfusahum
themselves
وَمَا
wa-maa
and not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
yashʻuroon.
they realize (it)
٩
2:10
فِي
Fee
In
قُلُوبِهِم
q̣uloobihim
their hearts
مَّرَضٞ
maraḍuñ
(is) a disease
فَزَادَهُمُ
fazaadahumul
so has increased them
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
مَرَضٗاۖ
Maraḍaa.
(in) disease
وَلَهُمۡ
Wa-lahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمُۢ
ʹaleemum̃
painful
بِمَا
bimaa
because
كَانُواْ
Kaanoo
they used to
يَكۡذِبُونَ
Yakẓiboon.
[they] lie
١٠
2:11
وَإِذَا
Wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
قِيلَ
q̣eela
it is said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
لَا
laa-
(Do) not
تُفۡسِدُواْ
tufsidoo
spread corruption
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣aalooo
they say
إِنَّمَا
ʹinnamaa
Only
نَحۡنُ
naḥnu
we
مُصۡلِحُونَ
muṣliḥoon.
(are) reformers
١١
2:12
أَلَآ
ʹAlaaa
Beware
إِنَّهُمۡ
ʹinnahum
indeed they
هُمُ
humul
themselves
ٱلۡمُفۡسِدُونَ
mufsidoona
(are) the ones who spread corruption
وَلَٰكِن
wa-laakil
[and] but
لَّا
laa
not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
yashʻuroon.
they realize (it)
١٢
2:13
وَإِذَا
Wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
قِيلَ
q̣eela
it is said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
ءَامِنُواْ
ʹaaminoo
Believe
كَمَآ
kamaaa
as
ءَامَنَ
ʹaamanan
believed
ٱلنَّاسُ
naasu
the people
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣aalooo
they say
أَنُؤۡمِنُ
ʹanuʹminu
Should we believe
كَمَآ
kamaaa
as
ءَامَنَ
ʹaamanas
believed
ٱلسُّفَهَآءُۗ
sufahaaaʹ?
the fools
أَلَآ
ʹAlaaa
Beware
إِنَّهُمۡ
ʹinnahum
certainly they
هُمُ
humus
themselves
ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ
sufahaaaʹu
(are) the fools
وَلَٰكِن
wa-laakil
[and] but
لَّا
laa
not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
they know
١٣
2:14
وَإِذَا
Wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
لَقُواْ
laq̣ul
they meet
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believe[d]
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣aalooo
they say
ءَامَنَّا
ʹaamannaa,
We believe[d]
وَإِذَا
wa-ʹiẓaa
But when
خَلَوۡاْ
Khalaw
they are alone
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
with
شَيَٰطِينِهِمۡ
Shayaaṭeenihim
their evil ones
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣aalooo
they say
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
Indeed we
مَعَكُمۡ
maʻakum
(are) with you
إِنَّمَا
ʹinnamaa
only
نَحۡنُ
naḥnu
we
مُسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
mustahziʹoon.
(are) mockers
١٤
2:15
ٱللَّهُ
ʹAllaahu
Allah
يَسۡتَهۡزِئُ
yastahziʹu
mocks
بِهِمۡ
bihim
at them
وَيَمُدُّهُمۡ
wa-yamudduhum
and prolongs them
فِي
fee
in
طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ
ṭug̣yaanihim
their transgression
يَعۡمَهُونَ
yaʻmahoon.
they wander blindly
١٥
2:16
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹUlaaaʹikal
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeenash
(are) the ones who
ٱشۡتَرَوُاْ
tarawuḍ
bought
ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ
ḍalaalata
[the] astraying
بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ
bilhudaa:
for [the] guidance
فَمَا
famaa
So not
رَبِحَت
Rabiḥat
profited
تِّجَٰرَتُهُمۡ
tijaaratuhum
their commerce
وَمَا
wa-maa
and not
كَانُواْ
Kaanoo
were they
مُهۡتَدِينَ
Muhtadeen.
guided-ones

2:17
مَثَلُهُمۡ
Mas̤aluhum
Their example
كَمَثَلِ
Kamas̤alil
(is) like (the) example
ٱلَّذِي
laẓis
(of) the one who
ٱسۡتَوۡقَدَ
tawq̣ada
kindled
نَارٗا
Naaraa;
a fire
فَلَمَّآ
falammaaa
then when
أَضَآءَتۡ
ʹaḍaaaʹat
it illuminated
مَا
maa-
what
حَوۡلَهُۥ
ḥawlahoo
(was) around him
ذَهَبَ
ẓahabal
took away
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
بِنُورِهِمۡ
binoorihim
their light
وَتَرَكَهُمۡ
wa-tarakahum
and left them
فِي
fee
in
ظُلُمَٰتٖ
z̤̣ulumaatil
darkness[es]
لَّا
laa
(so) not
يُبۡصِرُونَ
Yubṣiroon.
(do) they see
١٧
2:18
صُمُّۢ
Ṣummum
Deaf
بُكۡمٌ
bukmun
dumb
عُمۡيٞ
ʻumyuñ
blind
فَهُمۡ
fahum
so they
لَا
laa-
not
يَرۡجِعُونَ
yarjiʻoon.
[they] will not return
١٨
2:19
أَوۡ
ʹAw
Or
كَصَيِّبٖ
kaṣayyibim
like a rainstorm
مِّنَ
minas
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
samaaaʹi
the sky
فِيهِ
feehi
in it (are)
ظُلُمَٰتٞ
z̤̣ulumaatuñw
darkness[es]
وَرَعۡدٞ
wa-raʻduñw
and thunder
وَبَرۡقٞ
wa-barq̣:
and lightning
يَجۡعَلُونَ
yajʻaloona
They put
أَصَٰبِعَهُمۡ
ʹaṣaabiʻahum
their fingers
فِيٓ
feee
in
ءَاذَانِهِم
ʹaaẓaanihim
their ears
مِّنَ
minaṣ
from
ٱلصَّوَٰعِقِ
ṣawaaʻiq̣i
the thunderclaps
حَذَرَ
ḥaẓaral
(in) fear (of)
ٱلۡمَوۡتِۚ
mawt.
[the] death
وَٱللَّهُ
Wallaaḥu
And Allah
مُحِيطُۢ
Muḥeeṭum
(is) [the One Who] encompasses
بِٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
bilkaafireen.
the disbelievers
١٩
2:20
يَكَادُ
Yakaadul
Almost
ٱلۡبَرۡقُ
barq̣u
the lightning
يَخۡطَفُ
yakhṭafu
snatches away
أَبۡصَٰرَهُمۡۖ
ʹabṣaarahum:
their sight
كُلَّمَآ
kullamaaa
Whenever
أَضَآءَ
ʹaḍaaaʹa
it flashes
لَهُم
lahum
for them
مَّشَوۡاْ
mashaw
they walk
فِيهِ
feehi
in it
وَإِذَآ
wa-ʹiẓaaa
and when
أَظۡلَمَ
ʹaz̤̣lama
it darkens
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
on them
قَامُواْۚ
q̣aamoo.
they stand (still)
وَلَوۡ
Wa-law
And if
شَآءَ
shaaaʹal
had willed
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
لَذَهَبَ
laẓahaba
He would certainly have taken away
بِسَمۡعِهِمۡ
bisamʻihim
their hearing
وَأَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡۚ
wa-ʹabṣaarihim;
and their sight
إِنَّ
ʹinnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
(is) on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٖ
shayʹiñ
thing
قَدِيرٞ
Q̣adeer.
All-Powerful
٢٠
2:21
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
Yaaaʹayyuhan
O
ٱلنَّاسُ
naasuʻ
mankind
ٱعۡبُدُواْ
budoo.
worship
رَبَّكُمُ
Rabbakumul
your Lord
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
the One Who
خَلَقَكُمۡ
khalaq̣akum
created you
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wallazeena
and those
مِن
miñ
from
قَبۡلِكُمۡ
q̣ablikum
before you
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
laʻallakum
so that you may
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaq̣oon.
become righteous
٢١
2:22
ٱلَّذِي
Allaẓee
The One Who
جَعَلَ
jaʻala
made
لَكُمُ
lakumul
for you
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
ʹarḍa
the earth
فِرَٰشٗا
firaashañw
a resting place
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ
was-samaaaʹa
and the sky
بِنَآءٗ
binaaaʹaa:
a canopy
وَأَنزَلَ
wa-ʹañzala
and sent down
مِنَ
minas
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
samaaaʹi
the sky
مَآءٗ
maaaañ
water
فَأَخۡرَجَ
faʹakhraja
then brought forth
بِهِۦ
bihee
therewith
مِنَ
minas̤
[of]
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ
s̤amaraati
the fruits
رِزۡقٗا
rizq̣al
(as) provision
لَّكُمۡۖ
lakum:
for you
فَلَا
falaa
So (do) not
تَجۡعَلُواْ
tajʻaloo
set up
لِلَّهِ
lillaahi
to Allah
أَندَادٗا
ʹañdaadañw
rivals
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-ʹañtum
while you
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.
[you] know
٢٢
2:23
وَإِن
Wa-iñ
And if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you are
فِي
fee
in
رَيۡبٖ
raybim
doubt
مِّمَّا
mimmaa
about what
نَزَّلۡنَا
nazzalnaa
We have revealed
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
to
عَبۡدِنَا
ʻAbdinaa
Our slave
فَأۡتُواْ
faʹtoo
then produce
بِسُورَةٖ
bi-Sooratim
a chapter
مِّن
mim
[of]
مِّثۡلِهِۦ
mis̤lih;
like it
وَٱدۡعُواْ
wadʻoo
and call
شُهَدَآءَكُم
shuhadaaaʹakum
your witnesses
مِّن
miñ
from
دُونِ
doonil
other than
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you are
صَٰدِقِينَ
ṣaadiq̣een.
truthful
٢٣
2:24
فَإِن
faʹil
But if
لَّمۡ
lam
not
تَفۡعَلُواْ
tafʻaloo
you do
وَلَن
wa-lañ
and never
تَفۡعَلُواْ
tafʻaloo
will you do
فَٱتَّقُواْ
fattaq̣un
then fear
ٱلنَّارَ
Naaral
the Fire
ٱلَّتِي
latee
whose
وَقُودُهَا
wa-q̣ooduhan
[its] fuel
ٱلنَّاسُ
naasu
(is) [the] men
وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖ
walḥijaaratu
and [the] stones
أُعِدَّتۡ
ʹuʻiddat
prepared
لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
lil-Kaafireen.
for the disbelievers
٢٤

2:25
وَبَشِّرِ
Wa-bashshiril
And give good news
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
(to) those who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believe
وَعَمِلُواْ
wa-ʻamiluṣ
and do
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
Ṣaaliḥaati
[the] righteous deeds
أَنَّ
ʹanna
that
لَهُمۡ
lahum
for them
جَنَّٰتٖ
jannaatiñ
(will be) Gardens
تَجۡرِي
tajree
flow
مِن
miñ
[from]
تَحۡتِهَا
taḥtihal
under them
ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۖ
ʹanhaar.
the rivers
كُلَّمَا
Kullamaa
Every time
رُزِقُواْ
ruziq̣oo
they are provided
مِنۡهَا
minhaa
therefrom
مِن
miñ
of
ثَمَرَةٖ
s̤amaratir
fruit
رِّزۡقٗا
rizq̣añ
(as) provision
قَالُواْ
q̣aaloo
they (will) say
هَٰذَا
haaẓal
This (is)
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
the one which
رُزِقۡنَا
ruziq̣naa
we were provided
مِن
miñ
from
قَبۡلُۖ
q̣abl.
before
وَأُتُواْ
wa-ʹutoo
And they will be given
بِهِۦ
bihee
therefrom
مُتَشَٰبِهٗاۖ
mutashaabihaa.
(things) in resemblance
وَلَهُمۡ
Wa-lahum
And for them
فِيهَآ
feehaaa
therein
أَزۡوَٰجٞ
ʹazwaajum
spouses
مُّطَهَّرَةٞۖ
muṭahharah;
purified
وَهُمۡ
wahum
and they
فِيهَا
feehaa
therein
خَٰلِدُونَ
khaalidoon.
(will) abide forever
٢٥
2:26
۞إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
لَا
laa
(is) not
يَسۡتَحۡيِۦٓ
yastaḥyeee
ashamed
أَن
ʹañy
to
يَضۡرِبَ
yaḍriba
set forth
مَثَلٗا
mas̤alam
an example
مَّا
maa
(like) even
بَعُوضَةٗ
baʻooḍatañ
(of) a mosquito
فَمَا
famaa
and (even) something
فَوۡقَهَاۚ
fawq̣ahaa.
above it
فَأَمَّا
Faʹammal
Then as for
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believed
فَيَعۡلَمُونَ
fayaʻlamoona
[thus] they will know
أَنَّهُ
ʹannahul
that it
ٱلۡحَقُّ
Ḥaq̣q̣u
(is) the truth
مِن
mir
from
رَّبِّهِمۡۖ
Rabbihim:
their Lord
وَأَمَّا
wa-ʹammal
And as for
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaroo
disbelieved
فَيَقُولُونَ
fayaq̣ooloona
[thus] they will say
مَاذَآ
maaẓaaa
what
أَرَادَ
ʹaraadal
(did) intend
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
بِهَٰذَا
bihaaẓaa
by this
مَثَلٗاۘ
mas̤alaa?
example
يُضِلُّ
Yuḍillu
He lets go astray
بِهِۦ
bihee
by it
كَثِيرٗا
kas̤eerañw
many
وَيَهۡدِي
wa-yahdee
and He guides
بِهِۦ
bihee
by it
كَثِيرٗاۚ
kas̤eeraa:
many
وَمَا
wa-maa
And not
يُضِلُّ
yuḍillu
He lets go astray
بِهِۦٓ
biheee
by it
إِلَّا
ʹillal
except
ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ
Faasiq̣een;
the defiantly disobedient
٢٦
2:27
ٱلَّذِينَ
ʹAllaẓeena
Those who
يَنقُضُونَ
yañq̣uḍoona
break
عَهۡدَ
ʻAhdal
(the) Covenant
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
مِنۢ
mim
from
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
مِيثَٰقِهِۦ
mees̤aaq̣ihee,
its ratification
وَيَقۡطَعُونَ
wa-yaq̣ṭaʻoona
and [they] cut
مَآ
maaa
what
أَمَرَ
ʹamaral
has ordered
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
بِهِۦٓ
biheee
it
أَن
ʹañy
to
يُوصَلَ
yooṣala
be joined
وَيُفۡسِدُونَ
wa-yufsidoona
and [they] spread corruption
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ
ʹarḍ:
the earth
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹulaaaʹika
Those
هُمُ
humul
they
ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ
khaasiroon.
(are) the losers
٢٧
2:28
كَيۡفَ
Kayfa
How
تَكۡفُرُونَ
takfuroona
(can) you disbelieve
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
in Allah
وَكُنتُمۡ
wa-kuñtum
While you were
أَمۡوَٰتٗا
ʹamwaatañ
dead
فَأَحۡيَٰكُمۡۖ
faʹaḥyaakum;
then He gave you life
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
then
يُمِيتُكُمۡ
yumeetukum
He will cause you to die
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
then
يُحۡيِيكُمۡ
yuḥyeekum
He will give you life
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
then
إِلَيۡهِ
ʹilayhi
to Him
تُرۡجَعُونَ
turjaʻoon.
you will be returned
٢٨
2:29
هُوَ
Huwal
He
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ
khalaq̣a
created
لَكُم
lakum
for you
مَّا
maa
what
فِي
fil
(is) in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
جَمِيعٗا
jameeʻaa;
all
ثُمَّ
s̤ummas
Moreover
ٱسۡتَوَىٰٓ
tawaaa
He turned
إِلَى
ʹilas
to
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
Samaaaʹi
the heaven
فَسَوَّىٰهُنَّ
fasaw-waahunna
and fashioned them
سَبۡعَ
sabʻa
seven
سَمَٰوَٰتٖۚ
samaawaat;
heavens
وَهُوَ
wa-Huwa
And He
بِكُلِّ
bikulli
of every
شَيۡءٍ
shayʹin
thing
عَلِيمٞ
ʻaleem.
(is) All-Knowing
٢٩

2:30
وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
قَالَ
q̣aala
said
رَبُّكَ
Rabbuka
your Lord
لِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
lil-Malaaaʹikati
to the angels
إِنِّي
ʹInnee
Indeed I (am)
جَاعِلٞ
jaaʻiluñ
going to place
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
خَلِيفَةٗۖ
Khaleefah˹.
a vicegerent
قَالُوٓاْ
Q̣aalooo
they said
أَتَجۡعَلُ
ʹatajʻalu
Will You place
فِيهَا
feehaa
in it
مَن
mañy
(one) who
يُفۡسِدُ
yufsidu
will spread corruption
فِيهَا
feehaa
in it
وَيَسۡفِكُ
wa-yasfikud
and will shed
ٱلدِّمَآءَ
dimaaaʹ?
[the] blood[s]
وَنَحۡنُ
wa-naḥnu
while we
نُسَبِّحُ
nusabbiḥu
[we] glorify (You)
بِحَمۡدِكَ
bi-Ḥamdika
with Your praises
وَنُقَدِّسُ
wa-nuq̣addisu
and we sanctify
لَكَۖ
lak.
[to] You
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
إِنِّيٓ
˹ʹInneee
Indeed I
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
[I] know
مَا
maa
what
لَا
laa-
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.˺
you know
٣٠
2:31
وَعَلَّمَ
Wa-ʻallama
And He taught
ءَادَمَ
ʹAadamal
Adam
ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ
ʹasmaaaʹa
the names
كُلَّهَا
kullahaa
all of them
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
Then
عَرَضَهُمۡ
ʻaraḍahum
He displayed them
عَلَى
ʻalal
to
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
malaaaʹikati
the angels
فَقَالَ
faq̣aala
then He said
أَنۢبِـُٔونِي
ʹambiʹoonee
Inform Me
بِأَسۡمَآءِ
biʹasmaaaʹi
of (the) names
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
haaaʹulaaaʹi
(of) these
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you are
صَٰدِقِينَ
ṣaadiq̣een.
truthful
٣١
2:32
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
سُبۡحَٰنَكَ
˹Subḥaanaka
Glory be to You
لَا
laa
No
عِلۡمَ
ʻilma
knowledge
لَنَآ
lanaaa
(is) for us
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
مَا
maa-
what
عَلَّمۡتَنَآۖ
ʻallamtanaa:
You have taught us
إِنَّكَ
ʹInnaka
Indeed You
أَنتَ
ʹañtal
You
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
ʻAleemul
(are) the All-Knowing
ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Ḥakeem.˺
the All-Wise
٣٢
2:33
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ
˹YaaaʹAadamu
O Adam
أَنۢبِئۡهُم
ʹambiʹhum̃
Inform them
بِأَسۡمَآئِهِمۡۖ
biʹasmaaaʹihim.˺
of their names
فَلَمَّآ
Falammaaa
And when
أَنۢبَأَهُم
ʹambaʹahum̃
he had informed them
بِأَسۡمَآئِهِمۡ
biʹasmaaaʹihim
of their names
قَالَ
q̣aala
He said
أَلَمۡ
ʹalam
Did not
أَقُل
ʹaq̣ul
I say
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
to you
إِنِّيٓ
ʹInneee
Indeed I
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
[I] know
غَيۡبَ
g̣aybas
(the) unseen
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
samaawaati
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
wal-ʹarḍi
and the earth
وَأَعۡلَمُ
wa-ʹaʻlamu
and I know
مَا
maa
what
تُبۡدُونَ
tubdoona
you reveal
وَمَا
wa-maa
and what
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you [were]
تَكۡتُمُونَ
taktumoon.
conceal
٣٣
2:34
وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
قُلۡنَا
q̣ulnaa
We said
لِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
lilmalaaaʹikatis
to the angels
ٱسۡجُدُواْ
judoo
Prostrate
لِأٓدَمَ
liʹAadama
to Adam
فَسَجَدُوٓاْ
fasajadooo
[so] they prostrated
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
except
إِبۡلِيسَ
ʹIblees:
Iblis
أَبَىٰ
ʹabaa
He refused
وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرَ
wastakbara
and was arrogant
وَكَانَ
wa-kaana
and became
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
Kaafireen.
the disbelievers
٣٤
2:35
وَقُلۡنَا
Wa-q̣ulnaa
And We said
يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ
yaaaʹAadamus
O Adam
ٱسۡكُنۡ
kun
Dwell
أَنتَ
ʹañta
you
وَزَوۡجُكَ
wa-zawjukal
and your spouse
ٱلۡجَنَّةَ
jannata
(in) Paradise
وَكُلَا
wa-kulaa
and [you both] eat
مِنۡهَا
Minhaa
from it
رَغَدًا
rag̣adan
freely
حَيۡثُ
ḥays̤u
(from) wherever
شِئۡتُمَا
shiʹtumaa;
you [both] wish
وَلَا
wa-laa
But do not
تَقۡرَبَا
taq̣rabaa
[you two] approach
هَٰذِهِ
haaẓihish
this
ٱلشَّجَرَةَ
shajarata
[the] tree
فَتَكُونَا
fatakoonaa
lest you [both] be
مِنَ
minaz̤̣
of
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
z̤̣aalimeen.
the wrongdoers
٣٥
2:36
فَأَزَلَّهُمَا
Faʹazallahumash
Then made [both of] them slip
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ
Shaytaanu
the Shaitaan
عَنۡهَا
ʻanhaa
from it
فَأَخۡرَجَهُمَا
faʹakhrajahumaa
and he got [both of] them out
مِمَّا
mimmaa
from what
كَانَا
kaanaa
they [both] were
فِيهِۖ
feeh.
in [it]
وَقُلۡنَا
Wa-q̣ulnah
And We said
ٱهۡبِطُواْ
biṭoo
Go down (all of you)
بَعۡضُكُمۡ
baʻḍukum
some of you
لِبَعۡضٍ
libaʻḍin
to others
عَدُوّٞۖ
ʻaduww.
(as) enemy
وَلَكُمۡ
Wa-lakum
and for you
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
مُسۡتَقَرّٞ
mustaq̣arruñw
(is) a dwelling place
وَمَتَٰعٌ
wa-mataaʻun
and a provision
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
for
حِينٖ
ḥeen.
a period
٣٦
2:37
فَتَلَقَّىٰٓ
Fatalaq̣q̣aaa
Then received
ءَادَمُ
ʹAadamu
Adam
مِن
mir
from
رَّبِّهِۦ
Rabbihee
his Lord
كَلِمَٰتٖ
Kalimaatiñ
words
فَتَابَ
fataaba
So (his Lord) turned
عَلَيۡهِۚ
ʻalayh:
towards him
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹinnahoo
Indeed He
هُوَ
Huwat
He
ٱلتَّوَّابُ
Tawwaabur
(is) the Oft-returning (to mercy)
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Raḥeem.
the Most Merciful

قُلۡنَا
Q̣ulnah
We said
ٱهۡبِطُواْ
biṭoo
Go down
مِنۡهَا
minhaa
from it
جَمِيعٗاۖ
jameeʻaa;
all (of you)
فَإِمَّا
faʹimmaa
and when
يَأۡتِيَنَّكُم
yaʹtiyannakum
comes to you
مِّنِّي
minnee
from Me
هُدٗى
Hudañ
Guidance
فَمَن
famañ
then whoever
تَبِعَ
tabiʻa
follows
هُدَايَ
Hudaaya
My Guidance
فَلَا
falaa
[then] no
خَوۡفٌ
khawfun
fear
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
(will be) on them
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
هُمۡ
hum
they
يَحۡزَنُونَ
yaḥzanoon.
will grieve
٣٨
2:39
وَٱلَّذِينَ
Wallaẓeena
And those
كَفَرُواْ
Kafaroo
who disbelieve[d]
وَكَذَّبُواْ
wa-kaẓẓaboo
and deny
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ
biʹAayaatinaaa
Our Signs
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹulaaaʹika
those
أَصۡحَٰبُ
ʹAṣḥaabun
(are the) companions
ٱلنَّارِۖ
Naar;
(of) the Fire
هُمۡ
hum
they
فِيهَا
feehaa
in it
خَٰلِدُونَ
Khaalidoon.
(will) abide forever
٣٩
2:40
يَٰبَنِيٓ
Yaa-Baneee
O Children
إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ
ʹIsraaaʹeelaẓ
(of) Israel
ٱذۡكُرُواْ
kuroo
Remember
نِعۡمَتِيَ
niʻmatiyal
My Favor
ٱلَّتِيٓ
lateee
which
أَنۡعَمۡتُ
ʹanʻamtu
I bestowed
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
وَأَوۡفُواْ
wa-ʹawfoo
and fulfill
بِعَهۡدِيٓ
biʻAhdeee
My Covenant
أُوفِ
ʹoofi
I will fulfill
بِعَهۡدِكُمۡ
biʻAhdikum
your covenant
وَإِيَّٰيَ
wa-ʹiyyaaya
and Me Alone
فَٱرۡهَبُونِ
Farhaboon.
fear [Me]
٤٠
2:41
وَءَامِنُواْ
Wa-ʹaaminoo
And believe
بِمَآ
Bimaaa
in what
أَنزَلۡتُ
ʹañzaltu
I have sent down
مُصَدِّقٗا
muṣaddiq̣al
confirming
لِّمَا
limaa
that which
مَعَكُمۡ
maʻakum
(is) with you
وَلَا
wa-laa
and (do) not
تَكُونُوٓاْ
takoonooo
be
أَوَّلَ
ʹawwala
(the) first
كَافِرِۭ
Kaafirim̃
disbeliever
بِهِۦۖ
bih.
of it
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (do) not
تَشۡتَرُواْ
tashtaroo
exchange
بِـَٔايَٰتِي
biʹAayaatee
My Signs (for)
ثَمَنٗا
s̤amanañ
a price
قَلِيلٗا
q̣aleelaa;
small
وَإِيَّٰيَ
wa-ʹiyyaaya
and Me Alone
فَٱتَّقُونِ
Fattaq̣oon.
fear [Me]
٤١
2:42
وَلَا
Wa-laa
And (do) not
تَلۡبِسُواْ
Talbisul
mix
ٱلۡحَقَّ
Ḥaq̣q̣a
the Truth
بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ
bilbaaṭili
with [the] falsehood
وَتَكۡتُمُواْ
wa-taktumul
and conceal
ٱلۡحَقَّ
Ḥaq̣q̣a
the Truth
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-ʹañtum
while you
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.
[you] know
٤٢
2:43
وَأَقِيمُواْ
Wa-ʹaq̣eemuṣ
And establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
Ṣalaata
the prayer
وَءَاتُواْ
wa-ʹaatuz
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
Zakaata
zakah
وَٱرۡكَعُواْ
Warkaʻoo
and bow down
مَعَ
maʻar
with
ٱلرَّٰكِعِينَ
raakiʻeen.
those who bow down
٤٣
2:44
۞أَتَأۡمُرُونَ
ʹAtaʹmuroonan
Do you order
ٱلنَّاسَ
naasa
[the] people
بِٱلۡبِرِّ
bilbirri
[the] righteousness
وَتَنسَوۡنَ
wa-tañsawna
and you forget
أَنفُسَكُمۡ
ʹañfusakum
yourselves
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-ʹañtum
while you
تَتۡلُونَ
tatloonal
[you] recite
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَۚ
Kitaab?
the Book
أَفَلَا
ʹAfalaa
Then will not
تَعۡقِلُونَ
taʻq̣iloon?
you use reason
٤٤
2:45
وَٱسۡتَعِينُواْ
Wastaʻeenoo
And seek help
بِٱلصَّبۡرِ
biṣ-Ṣabri
through patience
وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِۚ
waṣ-Ṣalaah:
and the prayer
وَإِنَّهَا
wa-ʹinnahaa
and indeed it
لَكَبِيرَةٌ
lakabeeratun
(is) surely difficult
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
عَلَى
ʻalal
on
ٱلۡخَٰشِعِينَ
Khaashiʻeen,
the humble ones
٤٥
2:46
ٱلَّذِينَ
ʹAllaẓeena
Those who
يَظُنُّونَ
Yaz̤̣unnoona
believe
أَنَّهُم
ʹannahum
that they
مُّلَٰقُواْ
mulaaq̣oo
will meet
رَبِّهِمۡ
Rabbihim
their Lord
وَأَنَّهُمۡ
wa-ʹannahum
and that they
إِلَيۡهِ
ʹilayhi
to Him
رَٰجِعُونَ
raajiʻoon.
will return
٤٦
2:47
يَٰبَنِيٓ
Yaa-Baneee
O Children
إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ
ʹIsraaaʹeelaẓ
(of) Israel
ٱذۡكُرُواْ
kuroo
Remember
نِعۡمَتِيَ
niʻmatiyal
My Favor
ٱلَّتِيٓ
lateee
which
أَنۡعَمۡتُ
ʹanʻamtu
I bestowed
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
upon you
وَأَنِّي
wa-ʹannee
and that I
فَضَّلۡتُكُمۡ
faḍḍaltukum
[I] preferred you
عَلَى
ʻalal
over
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
ʻaalameen.
the worlds
٤٧
2:48
وَٱتَّقُواْ
Wattaq̣oo
And fear
يَوۡمٗا
Yawmal
a day
لَّا
laa
(will) not
تَجۡزِي
tajzee
avail
نَفۡسٌ
nafsun
any soul
عَن
ʻan
for
نَّفۡسٖ
nafsiñ
(another) soul
شَيۡـٔٗا
shayʹañw
anything
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
يُقۡبَلُ
yuq̣balu
will be accepted
مِنۡهَا
minhaa
from it
شَفَٰعَةٞ
shafaaʻatuñw
any intercession
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
يُؤۡخَذُ
yuʹkhaẓu
will be taken
مِنۡهَا
minhaa
from it
عَدۡلٞ
ʻadluñw
a compensation
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
هُمۡ
hum
they
يُنصَرُونَ
yuñṣaroon.
will be helped

وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
نَجَّيۡنَٰكُم
najjaynaakum
We saved you
مِّنۡ
min
from
ءَالِ
ʹAali
(the) people
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
Firʻawna
(of) Firaun
يَسُومُونَكُمۡ
yasoomoonakum
(who were) afflicting you (with)
سُوٓءَ
soooʹal
horrible
ٱلۡعَذَابِ
ʻaẓaabi
torment
يُذَبِّحُونَ
yuẓabbiḥoona
slaughtering
أَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ
ʹabnaaaʹakum
your sons
وَيَسۡتَحۡيُونَ
wa-yastaḥyoona
and letting live
نِسَآءَكُمۡۚ
nisaaaʹakum;
your women
وَفِي
wa-fee
And in
ذَٰلِكُم
ẓaalikum̃
that
بَلَآءٞ
balaaaʹum
(was) a trial
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّكُمۡ
Rabbikum
your Lord
عَظِيمٞ
ʻaz̤̣eem.
great
٤٩
2:50
وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
فَرَقۡنَا
Faraq̣naa
We parted
بِكُمُ
bikumul
for you
ٱلۡبَحۡرَ
baḥra
the sea
فَأَنجَيۡنَٰكُمۡ
faʹañjaynaakum
then We saved you
وَأَغۡرَقۡنَآ
wa-ʹag̣raq̣naaa
and We drowned
ءَالَ
ʹAala
(the) people
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
Firʻawna
(of) Firaun
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-ʹañtum
while you
تَنظُرُونَ
tañz̤̣uroon.
(were) looking
٥٠
