2:2ذَٰلِكَẒaalikalThatٱلۡكِتَٰبُKitaabu(is) the bookلَاlaa -noرَيۡبَۛraybadoubtفِيهِۛfeeh.in itهُدٗىHudala Guidanceلِّلۡمُتَّقِينَlil-Muttaq̣een;for the God-conscious٢
2:3ٱلَّذِينَʹAllaẓeenaThose whoيُؤۡمِنُونَyuʹminoonabelieveبِٱلۡغَيۡبِbil-G̣aybiin the unseenوَيُقِيمُونَwa-yuq̣eemoonaṣand establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَṢalaatathe prayerوَمِمَّاwa-mimmaaand out of whatرَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡrazaq̣naahumWe have provided themيُنفِقُونَyuñfiq̣oon;they spend٣
2:4وَٱلَّذِينَWallaẓeenaAnd those whoيُؤۡمِنُونَyuʹminoonabelieveبِمَآbimaaain whatأُنزِلَʹuñzila(is) sent downإِلَيۡكَʹilaykato youوَمَآwa-maaaand whatأُنزِلَʹuñzilawas sent downمِنmiñfromقَبۡلِكَq̣ablik,before youوَبِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِwa-bilʹAakhiratiand in the Hereafterهُمۡhumtheyيُوقِنُونَyooq̣inoon.firmly believe٤
2:5أُوْلَٰٓئِكَʹUlaaaʹikaThoseعَلَىٰʻalaa(are) onهُدٗىHudamGuidanceمِّنmirfromرَّبِّهِمۡۖRabbihim,their Lordوَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَwa-ʹulaaaʹikaand those هُمُhumultheyٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَMufliḥoon.(are) the successful ones٥
2:6إِنَّʹInnalIndeedٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoكَفَرُواْKafaroodisbelieve[d]سَوَآءٌsawaaaʹun(it) is sameعَلَيۡهِمۡʻalayhimto themءَأَنذَرۡتَهُمۡʹaʹañẓartahumwhether you warn themأَمۡʹamorلَمۡlamnotتُنذِرۡهُمۡtuñẓirhumyou warn themلَاlaa notيُؤۡمِنُونَyuʹminoon.they believe٦
2:7خَتَمَKhatamalHas set a sealٱللَّهُlaahuAllahعَلَىٰʻalaaonقُلُوبِهِمۡq̣uloobihimtheir heartsوَعَلَىٰwa-ʻalaaand onسَمۡعِهِمۡۖsamʻihim,their hearingوَعَلَىٰٓwa-ʻalaaaand onأَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡʹabṣaarihimtheir visionغِشَٰوَةٞۖg̣ishaawah;(is) a veilوَلَهُمۡwa-lahumAnd for themعَذَابٌʻaẓaabun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٞʻaz̤̣eem.great٧
2:8وَمِنَWa-minanAnd ofٱلنَّاسِnaasithe peopleمَنmañy(are some) whoيَقُولُyaq̣oolusayءَامَنَّاʹaamannaaWe believedبِٱللَّهِbillaahiin Allahوَبِٱلۡيَوۡمِwa-bil-Yawmiland in the DayٱلۡأٓخِرِʹAakhiri[the] Lastوَمَاwa-maa but notهُمhum̃theyبِمُؤۡمِنِينَbimuʹmineen.(are) believers (at all)٨
2:9يُخَٰدِعُونَYukhaadiʻoonalThey seek to deceiveٱللَّهَlaahaAllahوَٱلَّذِينَwallaẓeenaand those whoءَامَنُواْʹaamanoo:believe[d]وَمَاwa-maaand notيَخۡدَعُونَYakhdaʻoonathey deceiveإِلَّآʹillaaaexceptأَنفُسَهُمۡʹañfusahumthemselvesوَمَاwa-maaand notيَشۡعُرُونَyashʻuroon.they realize (it)٩
2:10فِيFeeInقُلُوبِهِمq̣uloobihimtheir heartsمَّرَضٞmaraḍuñ(is) a diseaseفَزَادَهُمُfazaadahumulso has increased themٱللَّهُlaahuAllahمَرَضٗاۖMaraḍaa.(in) diseaseوَلَهُمۡWa-lahumand for themعَذَابٌʻaẓaabun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمُۢʹaleemum̃painfulبِمَاbimaabecauseكَانُواْKaanoothey used toيَكۡذِبُونَYakẓiboon.[they] lie١٠
2:11وَإِذَاWa-ʹiẓaaAnd whenقِيلَq̣eelait is saidلَهُمۡlahumto themلَاlaa-(Do) notتُفۡسِدُواْtufsidoospread corruptionفِيfilinٱلۡأَرۡضِʹarḍithe earthقَالُوٓاْq̣aalooothey sayإِنَّمَاʹinnamaaOnlyنَحۡنُnaḥnuweمُصۡلِحُونَmuṣliḥoon.(are) reformers١١
2:12أَلَآʹAlaaaBewareإِنَّهُمۡʹinnahumindeed theyهُمُhumulthemselvesٱلۡمُفۡسِدُونَmufsidoona(are) the ones who spread corruptionوَلَٰكِنwa-laakil[and] butلَّاlaanotيَشۡعُرُونَyashʻuroon.they realize (it)١٢
2:13وَإِذَاWa-ʹiẓaaAnd whenقِيلَq̣eelait is saidلَهُمۡlahumto themءَامِنُواْʹaaminooBelieveكَمَآkamaaaasءَامَنَʹaamananbelievedٱلنَّاسُnaasuthe peopleقَالُوٓاْq̣aalooothey sayأَنُؤۡمِنُʹanuʹminuShould we believeكَمَآkamaaaasءَامَنَʹaamanasbelievedٱلسُّفَهَآءُۗsufahaaaʹ?the foolsأَلَآʹAlaaaBewareإِنَّهُمۡʹinnahumcertainly theyهُمُhumusthemselvesٱلسُّفَهَآءُsufahaaaʹu(are) the foolsوَلَٰكِنwa-laakil[and] butلَّاlaanotيَعۡلَمُونَyaʻlamoon.they know١٣
2:14وَإِذَاWa-ʹiẓaaAnd whenلَقُواْlaq̣ulthey meetٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoءَامَنُواْʹaamanoobelieve[d]قَالُوٓاْq̣aalooothey sayءَامَنَّاʹaamannaa,We believe[d]وَإِذَاwa-ʹiẓaaBut whenخَلَوۡاْKhalawthey are aloneإِلَىٰʹilaawithشَيَٰطِينِهِمۡShayaaṭeenihimtheir evil onesقَالُوٓاْq̣aalooothey sayإِنَّاʹinnaaIndeed weمَعَكُمۡmaʻakum(are) with youإِنَّمَاʹinnamaaonlyنَحۡنُnaḥnuweمُسۡتَهۡزِءُونَmustahziʹoon.(are) mockers١٤
2:15ٱللَّهُʹAllaahuAllahيَسۡتَهۡزِئُyastahziʹumocksبِهِمۡbihimat themوَيَمُدُّهُمۡwa-yamudduhumand prolongs themفِيfeeinطُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡṭug̣yaanihimtheir transgressionيَعۡمَهُونَyaʻmahoon.they wander blindly١٥
2:16أُوْلَٰٓئِكَʹUlaaaʹikalThoseٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenash(are) the ones whoٱشۡتَرَوُاْtarawuḍboughtٱلضَّلَٰلَةَḍalaalata[the] astrayingبِٱلۡهُدَىٰbilhudaa:for [the] guidanceفَمَاfamaaSo notرَبِحَتRabiḥatprofitedتِّجَٰرَتُهُمۡtijaaratuhumtheir commerceوَمَاwa-maaand notكَانُواْKaanoowere theyمُهۡتَدِينَMuhtadeen.guided-ones١٦
2:17مَثَلُهُمۡMas̤aluhumTheir exampleكَمَثَلِKamas̤alil(is) like (the) exampleٱلَّذِيlaẓis(of) the one whoٱسۡتَوۡقَدَtawq̣adakindledنَارٗاNaaraa;a fireفَلَمَّآfalammaaathen whenأَضَآءَتۡʹaḍaaaʹatit illuminatedمَاmaa-whatحَوۡلَهُۥḥawlahoo(was) around himذَهَبَẓahabaltook awayٱللَّهُlaahuAllahبِنُورِهِمۡbinoorihimtheir lightوَتَرَكَهُمۡwa-tarakahumand left themفِيfeeinظُلُمَٰتٖz̤̣ulumaatildarkness[es]لَّاlaa(so) notيُبۡصِرُونَYubṣiroon.(do) they see١٧
2:18صُمُّۢṢummumDeafبُكۡمٌbukmundumbعُمۡيٞʻumyuñblindفَهُمۡfahumso theyلَاlaa-notيَرۡجِعُونَyarjiʻoon.[they] will not return١٨
2:19أَوۡʹAwOrكَصَيِّبٖkaṣayyibimlike a rainstormمِّنَminasfromٱلسَّمَآءِsamaaaʹithe skyفِيهِfeehiin it (are)ظُلُمَٰتٞz̤̣ulumaatuñwdarkness[es]وَرَعۡدٞwa-raʻduñwand thunderوَبَرۡقٞwa-barq̣:and lightningيَجۡعَلُونَyajʻaloonaThey putأَصَٰبِعَهُمۡʹaṣaabiʻahumtheir fingersفِيٓfeeeinءَاذَانِهِمʹaaẓaanihimtheir earsمِّنَminaṣfromٱلصَّوَٰعِقِṣawaaʻiq̣ithe thunderclapsحَذَرَḥaẓaral(in) fear (of)ٱلۡمَوۡتِۚmawt.[the] deathوَٱللَّهُWallaaḥuAnd AllahمُحِيطُۢMuḥeeṭum(is) [the One Who] encompassesبِٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَbilkaafireen.the disbelievers١٩
2:20يَكَادُYakaadulAlmostٱلۡبَرۡقُbarq̣uthe lightningيَخۡطَفُyakhṭafusnatches awayأَبۡصَٰرَهُمۡۖʹabṣaarahum:their sightكُلَّمَآkullamaaaWheneverأَضَآءَʹaḍaaaʹait flashesلَهُمlahumfor themمَّشَوۡاْmashawthey walkفِيهِfeehiin itوَإِذَآwa-ʹiẓaaaand whenأَظۡلَمَʹaz̤̣lamait darkensعَلَيۡهِمۡʻalayhimon themقَامُواْۚq̣aamoo.they stand (still)وَلَوۡWa-lawAnd ifشَآءَshaaaʹalhad willedٱللَّهُlaahuAllahلَذَهَبَlaẓahabaHe would certainly have taken awayبِسَمۡعِهِمۡbisamʻihimtheir hearingوَأَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡۚwa-ʹabṣaarihim;and their sightإِنَّʹinnalIndeedٱللَّهَlaahaAllahعَلَىٰʻalaa(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيۡءٖshayʹiñthingقَدِيرٞQ̣adeer.All-Powerful٢٠
2:21يَٰٓأَيُّهَاYaaaʹayyuhanOٱلنَّاسُnaasuʻmankindٱعۡبُدُواْbudoo.worshipرَبَّكُمُRabbakumulyour Lordٱلَّذِيlaẓeethe One Whoخَلَقَكُمۡkhalaq̣akumcreated youوَٱلَّذِينَwallazeenaand thoseمِنmiñfromقَبۡلِكُمۡq̣ablikumbefore youلَعَلَّكُمۡlaʻallakumso that you mayتَتَّقُونَtattaq̣oon.become righteous٢١
2:22ٱلَّذِيAllaẓeeThe One Whoجَعَلَjaʻalamadeلَكُمُlakumulfor youٱلۡأَرۡضَʹarḍathe earthفِرَٰشٗاfiraashañwa resting placeوَٱلسَّمَآءَwas-samaaaʹaand the skyبِنَآءٗbinaaaʹaa:a canopyوَأَنزَلَwa-ʹañzalaand sent downمِنَminasfromٱلسَّمَآءِsamaaaʹithe skyمَآءٗmaaaañwaterفَأَخۡرَجَfaʹakhrajathen brought forthبِهِۦbiheetherewithمِنَminas̤[of]ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِs̤amaraatithe fruitsرِزۡقٗاrizq̣al(as) provisionلَّكُمۡۖlakum:for youفَلَاfalaaSo (do) notتَجۡعَلُواْtajʻalooset upلِلَّهِlillaahito Allahأَندَادٗاʹañdaadañwrivalsوَأَنتُمۡwa-ʹañtumwhile youتَعۡلَمُونَtaʻlamoon.[you] know٢٢
2:23وَإِنWa-iñAnd ifكُنتُمۡkuñtumyou areفِيfeeinرَيۡبٖraybimdoubtمِّمَّاmimmaaabout whatنَزَّلۡنَاnazzalnaaWe have revealedعَلَىٰʻalaatoعَبۡدِنَاʻAbdinaaOur slaveفَأۡتُواْfaʹtoothen produceبِسُورَةٖbi-Sooratima chapterمِّنmim[of]مِّثۡلِهِۦmis̤lih;like itوَٱدۡعُواْwadʻooand callشُهَدَآءَكُمshuhadaaaʹakumyour witnessesمِّنmiñfromدُونِdoonilother thanٱللَّهِlaahiAllahإِنʹiñifكُنتُمۡkuñtumyou areصَٰدِقِينَṣaadiq̣een.truthful٢٣
2:24فَإِنfaʹilBut ifلَّمۡlamnotتَفۡعَلُواْtafʻalooyou doوَلَنwa-lañand neverتَفۡعَلُواْtafʻaloowill you doفَٱتَّقُواْfattaq̣unthen fearٱلنَّارَNaaralthe Fireٱلَّتِيlateewhoseوَقُودُهَاwa-q̣ooduhan[its] fuelٱلنَّاسُnaasu(is) [the] menوَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖwalḥijaaratuand [the] stonesأُعِدَّتۡʹuʻiddatpreparedلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَlil-Kaafireen.for the disbelievers٢٤
2:25وَبَشِّرِWa-bashshirilAnd give good newsٱلَّذِينَlaẓeena(to) those whoءَامَنُواْʹaamanoobelieveوَعَمِلُواْwa-ʻamiluṣand doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِṢaaliḥaati[the] righteous deedsأَنَّʹannathatلَهُمۡlahumfor themجَنَّٰتٖjannaatiñ(will be) Gardensتَجۡرِيtajreeflowمِنmiñ[from]تَحۡتِهَاtaḥtihalunder themٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۖʹanhaar.the riversكُلَّمَاKullamaaEvery timeرُزِقُواْruziq̣oothey are providedمِنۡهَاminhaatherefromمِنmiñofثَمَرَةٖs̤amaratirfruitرِّزۡقٗاrizq̣añ(as) provisionقَالُواْq̣aaloothey (will) sayهَٰذَاhaaẓalThis (is)ٱلَّذِيlaẓeethe one whichرُزِقۡنَاruziq̣naawe were providedمِنmiñfromقَبۡلُۖq̣abl.beforeوَأُتُواْwa-ʹutooAnd they will be givenبِهِۦbiheetherefromمُتَشَٰبِهٗاۖmutashaabihaa.(things) in resemblanceوَلَهُمۡWa-lahumAnd for themفِيهَآfeehaaathereinأَزۡوَٰجٞʹazwaajumspousesمُّطَهَّرَةٞۖmuṭahharah;purifiedوَهُمۡwahumand theyفِيهَاfeehaathereinخَٰلِدُونَkhaalidoon.(will) abide forever٢٥
2:26۞إِنَّʹInnalIndeedٱللَّهَlaahaAllahلَاlaa(is) notيَسۡتَحۡيِۦٓyastaḥyeeeashamedأَنʹañytoيَضۡرِبَyaḍribaset forthمَثَلٗاmas̤alaman exampleمَّاmaa(like) evenبَعُوضَةٗbaʻooḍatañ(of) a mosquitoفَمَاfamaaand (even) somethingفَوۡقَهَاۚfawq̣ahaa.above itفَأَمَّاFaʹammalThen as forٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoءَامَنُواْʹaamanoobelievedفَيَعۡلَمُونَfayaʻlamoona[thus] they will knowأَنَّهُʹannahulthat itٱلۡحَقُّḤaq̣q̣u(is) the truthمِنmirfromرَّبِّهِمۡۖRabbihim:their Lordوَأَمَّاwa-ʹammalAnd as forٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoكَفَرُواْkafaroodisbelievedفَيَقُولُونَfayaq̣ooloona[thus] they will sayمَاذَآmaaẓaaawhatأَرَادَʹaraadal(did) intendٱللَّهُlaahuAllahبِهَٰذَاbihaaẓaaby thisمَثَلٗاۘmas̤alaa?exampleيُضِلُّYuḍilluHe lets go astrayبِهِۦbiheeby itكَثِيرٗاkas̤eerañwmanyوَيَهۡدِيwa-yahdeeand He guidesبِهِۦbiheeby itكَثِيرٗاۚkas̤eeraa:manyوَمَاwa-maaAnd notيُضِلُّyuḍilluHe lets go astrayبِهِۦٓbiheeeby itإِلَّاʹillalexceptٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَFaasiq̣een;the defiantly disobedient٢٦
2:27ٱلَّذِينَʹAllaẓeenaThose whoيَنقُضُونَyañq̣uḍoonabreakعَهۡدَʻAhdal(the) Covenantٱللَّهِlaahi(of) Allahمِنۢmimfromبَعۡدِbaʻdiafterمِيثَٰقِهِۦmees̤aaq̣ihee,its ratificationوَيَقۡطَعُونَwa-yaq̣ṭaʻoonaand [they] cutمَآmaaawhatأَمَرَʹamaralhas orderedٱللَّهُlaahuAllahبِهِۦٓbiheeeitأَنʹañytoيُوصَلَyooṣalabe joinedوَيُفۡسِدُونَwa-yufsidoonaand [they] spread corruptionفِيfilinٱلۡأَرۡضِۚʹarḍ:the earthأُوْلَٰٓئِكَʹulaaaʹikaThoseهُمُhumultheyٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَkhaasiroon.(are) the losers٢٧
2:28كَيۡفَKayfaHowتَكۡفُرُونَtakfuroona(can) you disbelieveبِٱللَّهِbillaahiin Allahوَكُنتُمۡwa-kuñtumWhile you wereأَمۡوَٰتٗاʹamwaatañdeadفَأَحۡيَٰكُمۡۖfaʹaḥyaakum;then He gave you lifeثُمَّs̤ummathenيُمِيتُكُمۡyumeetukumHe will cause you to dieثُمَّs̤ummathenيُحۡيِيكُمۡyuḥyeekumHe will give you lifeثُمَّs̤ummathenإِلَيۡهِʹilayhito Himتُرۡجَعُونَturjaʻoon.you will be returned٢٨
2:29هُوَHuwalHeٱلَّذِيlaẓee(is) the One Whoخَلَقَkhalaq̣acreatedلَكُمlakumfor youمَّاmaawhatفِيfil(is) inٱلۡأَرۡضِʹarḍithe earthجَمِيعٗاjameeʻaa;allثُمَّs̤ummasMoreoverٱسۡتَوَىٰٓtawaaaHe turnedإِلَىʹilastoٱلسَّمَآءِSamaaaʹithe heavenفَسَوَّىٰهُنَّfasaw-waahunnaand fashioned themسَبۡعَsabʻasevenسَمَٰوَٰتٖۚsamaawaat;heavensوَهُوَwa-HuwaAnd Heبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَيۡءٍshayʹinthingعَلِيمٞʻaleem.(is) All-Knowing٢٩
2:30وَإِذۡWa-ʹiẓAnd whenقَالَq̣aalasaidرَبُّكَRabbukayour Lordلِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِlil-Malaaaʹikatito the angelsإِنِّيʹInneeIndeed I (am)جَاعِلٞjaaʻiluñgoing to placeفِيfilinٱلۡأَرۡضِʹarḍithe earthخَلِيفَةٗۖKhaleefah˹.a vicegerentقَالُوٓاْQ̣aalooothey saidأَتَجۡعَلُʹatajʻaluWill You placeفِيهَاfeehaain itمَنmañy(one) whoيُفۡسِدُyufsiduwill spread corruptionفِيهَاfeehaain itوَيَسۡفِكُwa-yasfikudand will shedٱلدِّمَآءَdimaaaʹ?[the] blood[s]وَنَحۡنُwa-naḥnuwhile weنُسَبِّحُnusabbiḥu[we] glorify (You)بِحَمۡدِكَbi-Ḥamdikawith Your praisesوَنُقَدِّسُwa-nuq̣addisuand we sanctifyلَكَۖlak.[to] YouقَالَQ̣aalaHe saidإِنِّيٓ˹ʹInneeeIndeed Iأَعۡلَمُʹaʻlamu[I] knowمَاmaawhatلَاlaa-notتَعۡلَمُونَtaʻlamoon.˺you know٣٠
2:31وَعَلَّمَWa-ʻallamaAnd He taughtءَادَمَʹAadamalAdamٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَʹasmaaaʹathe names كُلَّهَاkullahaaall of themثُمَّs̤ummaThenعَرَضَهُمۡʻaraḍahumHe displayed themعَلَىʻalaltoٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِmalaaaʹikatithe angelsفَقَالَfaq̣aalathen He saidأَنۢبِـُٔونِيʹambiʹooneeInform Meبِأَسۡمَآءِbiʹasmaaaʹiof (the) namesهَٰٓؤُلَآءِhaaaʹulaaaʹi(of) theseإِنʹiñifكُنتُمۡkuñtumyou areصَٰدِقِينَṣaadiq̣een.truthful٣١
2:32قَالُواْQ̣aalooThey saidسُبۡحَٰنَكَ˹SubḥaanakaGlory be to YouلَاlaaNoعِلۡمَʻilmaknowledgeلَنَآlanaaa(is) for usإِلَّاʹillaaexceptمَاmaa-whatعَلَّمۡتَنَآۖʻallamtanaa:You have taught usإِنَّكَʹInnakaIndeed YouأَنتَʹañtalYouٱلۡعَلِيمُʻAleemul(are) the All-KnowingٱلۡحَكِيمُḤakeem.˺the All-Wise٣٢
2:33قَالَQ̣aalaHe saidيَٰٓـَٔادَمُ˹YaaaʹAadamuO Adamأَنۢبِئۡهُمʹambiʹhum̃Inform themبِأَسۡمَآئِهِمۡۖbiʹasmaaaʹihim.˺of their namesفَلَمَّآFalammaaaAnd whenأَنۢبَأَهُمʹambaʹahum̃he had informed themبِأَسۡمَآئِهِمۡbiʹasmaaaʹihimof their namesقَالَq̣aalaHe saidأَلَمۡʹalamDid notأَقُلʹaq̣ulI sayلَّكُمۡlakumto youإِنِّيٓʹInneeeIndeed Iأَعۡلَمُʹaʻlamu[I] knowغَيۡبَg̣aybas(the) unseenٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِsamaawaati(of) the heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضِwal-ʹarḍiand the earthوَأَعۡلَمُwa-ʹaʻlamuand I knowمَاmaawhatتُبۡدُونَtubdoonayou revealوَمَاwa-maaand whatكُنتُمۡkuñtumyou [were]تَكۡتُمُونَtaktumoon.conceal٣٣
2:34وَإِذۡWa-ʹiẓAnd whenقُلۡنَاq̣ulnaaWe saidلِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِlilmalaaaʹikatisto the angelsٱسۡجُدُواْjudooProstrateلِأٓدَمَliʹAadamato Adamفَسَجَدُوٓاْfasajadooo[so] they prostratedإِلَّآʹillaaaexceptإِبۡلِيسَʹIblees:IblisأَبَىٰʹabaaHe refusedوَٱسۡتَكۡبَرَwastakbaraand was arrogantوَكَانَwa-kaanaand becameمِنَminalofٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَKaafireen.the disbelievers٣٤
2:35وَقُلۡنَاWa-q̣ulnaaAnd We saidيَٰٓـَٔادَمُyaaaʹAadamusO AdamٱسۡكُنۡkunDwellأَنتَʹañtayouوَزَوۡجُكَwa-zawjukaland your spouseٱلۡجَنَّةَjannata(in) Paradiseوَكُلَاwa-kulaaand [you both] eatمِنۡهَاMinhaafrom itرَغَدًاrag̣adanfreelyحَيۡثُḥays̤u(from) whereverشِئۡتُمَاshiʹtumaa;you [both] wishوَلَاwa-laaBut do notتَقۡرَبَاtaq̣rabaa[you two] approachهَٰذِهِhaaẓihishthisٱلشَّجَرَةَshajarata[the] treeفَتَكُونَاfatakoonaalest you [both] beمِنَminaz̤̣ofٱلظَّٰلِمِينَz̤̣aalimeen.the wrongdoers٣٥
2:36فَأَزَلَّهُمَاFaʹazallahumashThen made [both of] them slipٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُShaytaanuthe Shaitaanعَنۡهَاʻanhaafrom itفَأَخۡرَجَهُمَاfaʹakhrajahumaaand he got [both of] them outمِمَّاmimmaafrom whatكَانَاkaanaathey [both] wereفِيهِۖfeeh.in [it]وَقُلۡنَاWa-q̣ulnahAnd We saidٱهۡبِطُواْbiṭooGo down (all of you)بَعۡضُكُمۡbaʻḍukumsome of youلِبَعۡضٍlibaʻḍinto othersعَدُوّٞۖʻaduww.(as) enemyوَلَكُمۡWa-lakumand for youفِيfilinٱلۡأَرۡضِʹarḍithe earthمُسۡتَقَرّٞmustaq̣arruñw(is) a dwelling placeوَمَتَٰعٌwa-mataaʻunand a provisionإِلَىٰʹilaaforحِينٖḥeen.a period٣٦
2:37فَتَلَقَّىٰٓFatalaq̣q̣aaaThen receivedءَادَمُʹAadamuAdamمِنmirfromرَّبِّهِۦRabbiheehis LordكَلِمَٰتٖKalimaatiñwordsفَتَابَfataabaSo (his Lord) turnedعَلَيۡهِۚʻalayh:towards himإِنَّهُۥʹinnahooIndeed HeهُوَHuwatHeٱلتَّوَّابُTawwaabur(is) the Oft-returning (to mercy)ٱلرَّحِيمُRaḥeem.the Most Merciful٣٧
2:38قُلۡنَاQ̣ulnahWe saidٱهۡبِطُواْbiṭooGo downمِنۡهَاminhaafrom itجَمِيعٗاۖjameeʻaa;all (of you)فَإِمَّاfaʹimmaaand whenيَأۡتِيَنَّكُمyaʹtiyannakumcomes to youمِّنِّيminneefrom MeهُدٗىHudañGuidanceفَمَنfamañthen whoeverتَبِعَtabiʻafollowsهُدَايَHudaayaMy Guidanceفَلَاfalaa[then] noخَوۡفٌkhawfunfearعَلَيۡهِمۡʻalayhim(will be) on themوَلَاwa-laaand notهُمۡhumtheyيَحۡزَنُونَyaḥzanoon.will grieve٣٨
2:39وَٱلَّذِينَWallaẓeenaAnd thoseكَفَرُواْKafaroowho disbelieve[d]وَكَذَّبُواْwa-kaẓẓabooand denyبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآbiʹAayaatinaaaOur SignsأُوْلَٰٓئِكَʹulaaaʹikathoseأَصۡحَٰبُʹAṣḥaabun(are the) companionsٱلنَّارِۖNaar;(of) the Fireهُمۡhumtheyفِيهَاfeehaain itخَٰلِدُونَKhaalidoon.(will) abide forever٣٩
2:40يَٰبَنِيٓYaa-BaneeeO ChildrenإِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَʹIsraaaʹeelaẓ(of) IsraelٱذۡكُرُواْkurooRememberنِعۡمَتِيَniʻmatiyalMy FavorٱلَّتِيٓlateeewhichأَنۡعَمۡتُʹanʻamtuI bestowedعَلَيۡكُمۡʻalaykumupon youوَأَوۡفُواْwa-ʹawfooand fulfillبِعَهۡدِيٓbiʻAhdeeeMy CovenantأُوفِʹoofiI will fulfillبِعَهۡدِكُمۡbiʻAhdikumyour covenantوَإِيَّٰيَwa-ʹiyyaayaand Me AloneفَٱرۡهَبُونِFarhaboon.fear [Me]٤٠
2:41وَءَامِنُواْWa-ʹaaminooAnd believeبِمَآBimaaain whatأَنزَلۡتُʹañzaltuI have sent downمُصَدِّقٗاmuṣaddiq̣alconfirmingلِّمَاlimaathat whichمَعَكُمۡmaʻakum(is) with youوَلَاwa-laaand (do) notتَكُونُوٓاْtakoonooobeأَوَّلَʹawwala(the) firstكَافِرِۭKaafirim̃disbelieverبِهِۦۖbih.of itوَلَاWa-laaAnd (do) notتَشۡتَرُواْtashtarooexchangeبِـَٔايَٰتِيbiʹAayaateeMy Signs (for)ثَمَنٗاs̤amanaña priceقَلِيلٗاq̣aleelaa;smallوَإِيَّٰيَwa-ʹiyyaayaand Me AloneفَٱتَّقُونِFattaq̣oon.fear [Me]٤١
2:42وَلَاWa-laaAnd (do) notتَلۡبِسُواْTalbisulmixٱلۡحَقَّḤaq̣q̣athe Truthبِٱلۡبَٰطِلِbilbaaṭiliwith [the] falsehoodوَتَكۡتُمُواْwa-taktumuland concealٱلۡحَقَّḤaq̣q̣athe Truthوَأَنتُمۡwa-ʹañtumwhile youتَعۡلَمُونَtaʻlamoon.[you] know٤٢
2:43وَأَقِيمُواْWa-ʹaq̣eemuṣAnd establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَṢalaatathe prayerوَءَاتُواْwa-ʹaatuzand giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَZakaatazakahوَٱرۡكَعُواْWarkaʻooand bow downمَعَmaʻarwithٱلرَّٰكِعِينَraakiʻeen.those who bow down٤٣
2:44۞أَتَأۡمُرُونَʹAtaʹmuroonanDo you orderٱلنَّاسَnaasa[the] peopleبِٱلۡبِرِّbilbirri[the] righteousnessوَتَنسَوۡنَwa-tañsawnaand you forgetأَنفُسَكُمۡʹañfusakumyourselvesوَأَنتُمۡwa-ʹañtumwhile youتَتۡلُونَtatloonal[you] reciteٱلۡكِتَٰبَۚKitaab?the BookأَفَلَاʹAfalaaThen will notتَعۡقِلُونَtaʻq̣iloon?you use reason٤٤
2:45وَٱسۡتَعِينُواْWastaʻeenooAnd seek helpبِٱلصَّبۡرِbiṣ-Ṣabrithrough patienceوَٱلصَّلَوٰةِۚwaṣ-Ṣalaah:and the prayerوَإِنَّهَاwa-ʹinnahaaand indeed itلَكَبِيرَةٌlakabeeratun(is) surely difficultإِلَّاʹillaaexceptعَلَىʻalalonٱلۡخَٰشِعِينَKhaashiʻeen,the humble ones٤٥
2:46ٱلَّذِينَʹAllaẓeenaThose whoيَظُنُّونَYaz̤̣unnoonabelieveأَنَّهُمʹannahumthat theyمُّلَٰقُواْmulaaq̣oowill meetرَبِّهِمۡRabbihimtheir Lordوَأَنَّهُمۡwa-ʹannahumand that theyإِلَيۡهِʹilayhito Himرَٰجِعُونَraajiʻoon.will return٤٦
2:47يَٰبَنِيٓYaa-BaneeeO ChildrenإِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَʹIsraaaʹeelaẓ(of) IsraelٱذۡكُرُواْkurooRememberنِعۡمَتِيَniʻmatiyalMy FavorٱلَّتِيٓlateeewhichأَنۡعَمۡتُʹanʻamtuI bestowedعَلَيۡكُمۡʻalaykumupon youوَأَنِّيwa-ʹanneeand that Iفَضَّلۡتُكُمۡfaḍḍaltukum[I] preferred youعَلَىʻalaloverٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَʻaalameen.the worlds٤٧
2:48وَٱتَّقُواْWattaq̣ooAnd fearيَوۡمٗاYawmala dayلَّاlaa(will) notتَجۡزِيtajzeeavailنَفۡسٌnafsunany soulعَنʻanforنَّفۡسٖnafsiñ(another) soulشَيۡـٔٗاshayʹañwanythingوَلَاwa-laaand notيُقۡبَلُyuq̣baluwill be acceptedمِنۡهَاminhaafrom itشَفَٰعَةٞshafaaʻatuñwany intercessionوَلَاwa-laaand notيُؤۡخَذُyuʹkhaẓuwill be takenمِنۡهَاminhaafrom itعَدۡلٞʻadluñwa compensationوَلَاwa-laaand notهُمۡhumtheyيُنصَرُونَyuñṣaroon.will be helped٤٨
2:49وَإِذۡWa-ʹiẓAnd whenنَجَّيۡنَٰكُمnajjaynaakumWe saved youمِّنۡminfromءَالِʹAali(the) peopleفِرۡعَوۡنَFirʻawna(of) Firaunيَسُومُونَكُمۡyasoomoonakum(who were) afflicting you (with)سُوٓءَsoooʹalhorribleٱلۡعَذَابِʻaẓaabitormentيُذَبِّحُونَyuẓabbiḥoonaslaughteringأَبۡنَآءَكُمۡʹabnaaaʹakumyour sonsوَيَسۡتَحۡيُونَwa-yastaḥyoonaand letting liveنِسَآءَكُمۡۚnisaaaʹakum;your womenوَفِيwa-feeAnd inذَٰلِكُمẓaalikum̃thatبَلَآءٞbalaaaʹum(was) a trialمِّنmirfromرَّبِّكُمۡRabbikumyour Lordعَظِيمٞʻaz̤̣eem.great٤٩
2:50وَإِذۡWa-ʹiẓAnd whenفَرَقۡنَاFaraq̣naaWe partedبِكُمُbikumulfor youٱلۡبَحۡرَbaḥrathe seaفَأَنجَيۡنَٰكُمۡfaʹañjaynaakumthen We saved youوَأَغۡرَقۡنَآwa-ʹag̣raq̣naaaand We drownedءَالَʹAala(the) peopleفِرۡعَوۡنَFirʻawna(of) Firaunوَأَنتُمۡwa-ʹañtumwhile youتَنظُرُونَtañz̤̣uroon.(were) looking٥٠
